The Country
Buckinghamshire Property
Buckinghamshire is divided into two parts by the Icknield Way, running from Dunstable in the north towards Wallingford in the south west. To the south-east are the Chiltern hills, heavily wooded with beech trees. This is the favoured area for commuters to London. There are good schools in High Wycombe, and the residential Thameside area around Marlow, but increasing urbanisation discourages residence further east, towards Slough and the M25. North-east “Bucks” comprises the Vale of Aylesbury, flat farming country leading to Buckingham, and Milton Keynes. It is less wooded and is considered less residentially attractive.
London by road:
The M40 motorway runs through the county and straight to London, joining the M25 near Gerrards Cross.
London by rail:
A mainline service runs between London Euston and Milton Keynes and between London Marylebone and High Wycombe as well as Amersham (which is also on the London Underground tube network) and Aylesbury and, on a loop line, High Wycombe, Princes Risborough and Bicester. Out of Paddington, the line to Maidenhead joins the branch line to Bourne End and Marlow.
Airports:
Heathrow, Stansted and Luton are within easy reach.
