The Country
Oxfordshire Property
One of the largest and most rural counties in the South East – almost 40% of the county, including the Chiltern Hills, the Cotswolds (straddling Gloucestershire) and the North Wessex Downs designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty – Oxfordshire is also commutable to London. As well as Oxford itself, home to the world-class University founded in 1096, major towns in the county include Witney, Woodstock, Abingdon, Banbury and Henley-on-Thames, home of the Regatta, one of England’s most picturesque river events. Properties built of Cotswold stone in the upper Thames/Charwell/Evenlode valleys are highly prized, as are those with views across the river or access to the riverbank. Oxfordshire abounds in a variety of desirable homes, including country mansions, Georgian houses, timber-framed period houses and brand new developments.
